Welcome to the author website for A.F. McGuinness. Here you can find out about Andrew, his writing and his experience of Lyme disease, There's also news about upcoming events he's involved in, photos of past events  and reviews of work by other authors. 

Andrew was born in London to Irish parents and now lives on the north Kent coast with his wife and two bearded collies.  He's an award-winning author of fiction and non-fiction and  has published history, journalism, short stories, novels and poetry. He is a freelance editor, mentor and creative writing tutor.

He has lectured at a number of universities across the UK including Newcastle, Glasgow and Manchester. Most recently, Andrew was an associate lecturer in creative writing at two universities in Canterbury. He's been involved in several projects to support new writers, including  designing and delivering the first fiction mentoring scheme in Kent. He's also taken part in  literary festivals, been a writer-in-residence at diverse locations from schools to beach huts and has interviewed world famous novelists at high-profile events, notably Kazuo Ishiguro, Andrew O’Hagan, David Nicholls and Philip Hensher.

His latest novel, Anatomised (2018) was inspired by his own life-changing experience of contracting Lyme disease.
